Indonesian Lampwork Glass Beads

Indonesian lampwork glass mani-manik (the local word for "beads") are traditionally handcrafted and decorated with culture-inspired patterns and colors. Today, native Indo artisans still use the ancient lampworking process, where, a mandrel-wounded glass rod is manually formed by melting in very hot flame and kiln-annealing it to ensure durability. Thus, each lampwork glass bead differs slightly from other pieces with the same color, design and shape.
